Set a Conga Sign Tag as Required or Optional

Required vs. Optional Tags

Conga Sign provides functionality to set a tag as required or optional. Signers must fill out required tags before completing the Conga Sign transaction. If a tag is set to optional, signers can complete the transaction without filling out the optional tags.

Write back tags, custom tags, and certain basic tags can be set as required or optional. For more information on specific basic tags that have the capability to be set as required or optional, see List of Conga Sign signature tags.

Set a Tag as Required or Optional with Tagging Syntax

In a Conga Sign document, you can pre-define tags as required or optional with tagging syntax. See the tagging syntax and examples below to pre-define a tag as required or optional. For more information on tagging syntax, see List of Conga Sign signature tags and Using signature and custom tags

Add the following syntax to the Conga Sign tag: {"required": "true [OR] false"}

  • Basic tag set to optional: \company1 {"required": "false"}\
  • Custom tag set to required: \customtext1 {"label":"Address", "required":"true"}\
