Adding a Project

You can create a project that only you will work on, or you can share the responsibility of completing a project with a team of users. A project is added to the Novatus system from the Projects browse screen.

Navigation Toolbar

Click on My Place to display the menu, and then click on Projects to display your Projects browse screen.

Note: If the Projects link is not present, you do not have the permission to view or manage projects.

New Project button

Click to display a screen the Project screen.

Note: If the New Project button is not in your Projects browse screen, you do not have the permission to create projects.

Project Name and Project Description fields

Enter a name for the project in the Project Name field and provide a description of the project's purpose in the Project Description field.

Note: If the text you enter exceeds the viewing area of the field, click the Expand link to display a window that will allow you to view the text in its entirety.

Use Project Group radio button and list

  • If you are creating a project that only you will be working on, select the Use Project Group radio button. Then, make a selection in the list of available options in the Project Group list, and proceed to Step F.
  • If you are creating a project that both you and other users will be working on, proceed to the next step.

Use Project Team radio button and Project Team list box

Select the Use Project Team radio button if you will be working on this project with other users. Then, click on the image741.png icon in the Project Team list box to run the Project Team Wizard, which will allow you to select all the members of the team and assign permissions to each member. You are automatically added as a member of the Project Team.

Note: All members of the project team can view the project information, but permission to modify the project and permission to use the Documents feature must be granted by the individual who creates the project.

Project Status list

Make a selection in the list to indicate the project's current status.

Project Type list

Make a selection in the list to indicate the type of project you are creating.

Override Start Date check box

Select if you want to override the start date for the project. The default start date is the date on which the first task is assigned.

Project Start Date field

Enter the start date for the project using the MM/DD/YYYY format. You can also use the calendar icon to select the date.

Override End Date check box

Select if you want to override the end date for the project. The default end date is the date on which the last task is completed.

Project End Date field

Enter the end date for the project using the MM/DD/YYYY format.

Project Additional Fields section

If your Administrator has added any fields to capture additional information for a project, these fields will be displayed in this section of the screen.

Note: If any of the fields are required, you must populate them or you will not be able to save the project.

Save button

Click to save your information and add the project.

  If a flow is associated with a project, you can complete a step in the flow, manage flow documents, and invalidate the flow.
