Column Quick Menu

Analytics provides a drop-down menu for each column in a report to quickly perform the available formatting functions, display options, and calculations for that column of data, as described in Column Formatting. The menu also provides access to the more complex features of Conditional Formatting and Advanced Metrics.

From the Data view, click on the image244.png icon for a column heading to display a menu that allows you to perform a variety of actions for the report column.

Column menu

  • View the menu options available for that column. 
  • Click on the image260.png icon for an option to view a sub-menu of options.

The sub-menus for each column will vary based on the field type of the column (i.e., text, dates, numeric values).

Aggregation option

This option is also available and more fully described in the Summary section of the Column Formatting window. See the summary description for text, numeric values, and dates.

Aggregations allow you to perform calculations, such as totaling the values in a column or computing an average value. An aggregation can also be used to display a minimum or maximum value, count the number of values or text entries in a column, count the number of unique values or entries, and display subtotals for unique counts.

Sort option

This option is also available and more fully described in the Sorting section in the Column Formatting window. See the sorting description for text, numeric values, and dates.

Both text and values can be sorted in ascending order (A-Z or 0-9) or descending order (Z-A or 9-0).

Format menu – Edit option

This option is also available and more fully described in the Display section in the Column Formatting window. See the display description for text, numeric values, and dates.

Display options include the font style, size, and color of the text or values, as well as the background color, how the information is aligned in a report cell, and whether or not borders are added to a report cell.

Format menu – Conditional Formatting option

This option is used to set up alerts related to the data in a column. See Conditional Formatting.

Format menu – Clear option

Click to clear all the formatting applied to the column of data.

Advanced Function option

Click to set up an analytical function for the data in the column. See Advanced Functions.

Group Data option

If you want the report to use this column as a section, click on the option. The column name displays in the Sections panel.

If you want to format the display of the section, see Section Formatting.

Totals option

This option is also available and more fully described in the Summary section of the Column Formatting window. See the summary description for text, numeric values, and dates.

Add Filter option

If you want to filter the report data using this column, click on the option. The column name appears in the Filters panel.

If you want to format the display of the filter, see Filter Formatting.

Hide Field option

Click if you want to hide this column of information in the report.

Delete Field option

Click if you want to remove this column of information from the report.
