Adding a Global Message

Administrators can use the Global Messaging feature as a quick and effective way to communicate with specific groups of users about activities and key dates related to the companies, contracts, and projects that are created, managed, and stored in the Novatus system. Global messages can be sent to as few as one group of users who hold a specific role in Novatus Contracts, several groups of users, or all program users.

Navigation Toolbar

Click on Admin to display a menu, and select Global Messaging to display the Global Messages screen.

Note: If the Global Messaging link is not present, you do not have  permission to use this feature.

New Message button

Click to display the New Global Messages screen.

Subject field

Enter the subject of the global message. The text in this field will appear as the heading of the global message in the user's Dashboard.

Priority list

Select the priority of the global message you are sending. The options are Information, Warning, and Alert. The Warning and Alert messages display with a color-coded background.

Start Date field

Enter the date on which you want the global message to display in each user's Dashboard using the format MM/DD/YYYY. You can also click on the icon and use the pop-up calendar to quickly locate the date.

End Date field

Enter the date on which you want the global message to be removed from each user's Dashboard using the format MM/DD/YYYY. You can also click on the icon and use the pop-up calendar to quickly locate the date.

Note: If you leave this field blank, the global message will remain in each user's Dashboard until an end date is set or the message is deleted.

Message Body field

Type the body of the message into the field. The text in this field will appear under the heading of the global message in the user's Dashboard.

Insert/Edit Link button

If you want to add a hyperlink to the message, click on the Icon Link.pngicon to display an Insert Link window.

Populate the fields in the window and then click the OK button:

  • URL - enter (or copy/paste) the link in the field.
  • Text to display - this field is auto-populated with the information from the URL field, but you can edit the text if you want the change the way in which the link is displayed in the global message.
  • Title field - if desired, enter a title for the link. This field is used if the name or purpose of the link is not readily apparent.
  • Target list - currently, this list defaults to New Page, which indicates that the link will open in a new browser window.

Format your message using the text enhancement options (shown below).

Roles check boxes

Select the check boxes for all user roles that you want to receive the global message. The users who have the selected role(s) will see the global message when they log into the Novatus system, beginning on the date provided in the Start Date field.

Save button

Click to save your information and schedule delivery of the global message.
