Adding a Clause Security List Item

Clause Security is used to control the clauses that are available to users in the Clause Library based on their user roles. Administrators are responsible for adding the security levels that will be assigned to clauses, and also assigning the appropriate clause security level to individual user roles, as well as assigning user roles to individual users.

  Administrators must also identify the clause categories and types that will be used in adding clauses to the Clause Library since they work in conjunction with clause security levels.



Navigation Toolbar

Click on Admin to display a menu of your administrator functions, and click on Lists to display the List Administration screen.

Note: If the Lists link is not in your Admin menu, you do not have the permissions to use this feature.


Fields List category

Locate the Clause category by entering "clause" in the Search field, and pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. To clear the search results, click on the icon. The Search option is used to search for field lists, and not list categories.

Note: The items in this category include three lists: Clause Category, Clause Type, and Clause Security.


Clause Security list

Click to display the existing items in the list.


Excel button

Click if the list of security levels is lengthy, and you want to view the list in an Excel spreadsheet. The Excel application launches and displays a spreadsheet with an easy-to-view listing of all security levels.


Add button

Click to display a New Item record with editable fields. The New Item record displays at the top of the list.


New Item - Name and Description fields

  • Click on the New Item text in the Name column, and enter a name for the list item exactly as you want it to appear in the Clause Security list.
  • Click on the Default Description text in the Description column, and type the informational text that you want to display when the user "mouses-over" this item.


Reorder icons

If you want to reorder the items so that they display in a certain order in the list, click on the icon to move a security level up in the list, and the icon to move it down in the list.

Note: This option allows you arrange the list items in an order of low→high security (or high→low security), since the default sort order is the order in which items are added.


Save button

Click to add an item selection to the clause security list.
