Adding an Item to a Company Relationship List

In addition to the four primary lists in the Company Profile (Company Type, Category, Group, and Status), there is an additional Company Relationships list. This list is found in the screen that displays when the Relationships link is selected in the Company Profile, and the New Relationship button is selected.

  In setting up a company relationship, you must enter both the "relationship" (of Company 1) and the "related relationship" (to Company 2) unless one of these relationships already exists in the Novatus system.

Navigation Toolbar

Click on Admin to display the menu, and select Lists to display the List Administration screen.

Note: If the Lists link is not in your Admin menu, you do not have the permissions to use this feature.

Fields List category

Locate the Relationship category by entering "relat" (or relationship) in the Search field, and pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. To clear the search results, click on the icon.

Note: There is one list in the Relationship category.

Company Relationships list

Click to display an alphabetized list of relationship types.

Excel button

Click if the list of company relationships is lengthy, and you want to view the list in an Excel spreadsheet. The Excel application launches and displays a spreadsheet with an easy-to-view listing of all relationship types.

Add button

Click to display a New Item record with editable fields. The New Item record displays at the top of the list.

Related Relationship list

Click on the New Item text to activate the list, and display the list of existing related relationships.

  • If neither of the relationships you want to create is present, proceed to Step G
  • If one of the relationships is present, select it in the Related Relationship list. Then, click on the New Item text in the Relationship field, and enter the name of the companion relationship. Click the Save button to add the company relationship.

Important: If neither of the relationships you need is listed in the Related Relationship list, you must create each relationship by entering its name in the Relationship field so that it is available as a selection in the Related Relationship list.

Relationship field

Click on the New Item text, and enter the name of the relationship (e.g., Holding Company) you want to add.

Related Relationship list

Click on the New Item text to activate the list, and select any relationship in the list.

Save button

Click to add the first relationship.

Add button

Click to display a New Item record with editable fields. Items are listed in alphabetical order, so the New Item will display under the letter "N."

Relationship field

Click on the New Item text, and enter the companion relationship (e.g., Subsidiary) to the relationship you added in Step G.

Related Relationship list

Click on the New Item text to activate the list, and select the relationship you added in Step G.

Save button

Click to add the second relationship.

Once you have added the two relationships, you need to correctly link the first relationship.

Locate the first relationship you added, and click on it to select it.

Click in the field to activate the list, and select the correct relationship from the list of options.
