Adding a Contract Type

Contract types are defined by Administrators and can be set up in a hierarchy to accurately reflect the types of contracts used by your organization. For example, if your company sells software and also provides support for the software, a Sales contract type could be created and contain two different types of contracts: Products (for customers who only purchase the software) and Products & Services (for customers who purchase the software and customer support).

Navigation Toolbar

Click on Admin to display a menu of your administrator functions, and click on Lists to display the List Administration screen.

Note: If the Lists link is not in your Admin menu, you do not have the permissions to use this feature.

Field List category

Locate the Contract category by scrolling through the alphabetized list until you find the Contract (10 Items) category. You can also enter "contract" in the Search field, and click the icon, but only seven (7) of the Contract lists will display since three (3) of the lists begin with the letter "A" (Additional Party Type, Address Type, and Agreement Type). To clear the search results, click on the icon.

Note: The items in this category include eight contract field lists, a link to the profile fields that can be made mandatory, and a link to the fields for which a Quick Tip can be added.

Contract Type list

Click to display the existing contract types displayed as a hierarchy. You can rename the top-level folder by clicking in the field and typing over the existing text.

Note: Contract types are displayed alphabetically.

Excel button

Click if the list of contract types is lengthy, and you want to view the list in an Excel spreadsheet. The Excel application launches and displays a spreadsheet with an easy-to-view listing of all contract types.

Add/Delete pop-up menu

Right-click on the top-level folder icon to display a pop-up menu, and then select the Add option to add a new contract type. A New Item record displays at the bottom of the hierarchy.

Important: If you are adding a contract sub-type to an existing contract type, right-click on the folder icon for the contract type. The New Item record will display immediately below the contract type, as an indented line item.

New Item field

Click inside the field to make it editable, and then give a name to the new contract type by typing over the New Item text.

Note: If your organization has one or more variations to this contract type, assign a broad category name to the contract type vs. a more narrow name.

Save button

Click to save your information and add a new contract type.

Add/Delete pop-up menu

Right-click on the new contract type if your organization uses more than one variation of this contract type. Select the Add option in the pop-up menu to display a New Item record.

Click inside the field to make it editable, and then give a descriptive name to the contract type by typing over the New Item text.
