Field Formatting and Images

General Field Formatting

Substitute “Account” for the target object of the template and “Name” with the field on the object

  • Word Document
    • {{Account.Name}}
  • Powerpoint Document
    • {{Account.Name}}
  • Excel Document
    • &=$Account.Name
  • PDF Document (set the name of the form element to the following format)
    • Account.Name

Microsoft Word Field Formatting

The text formatting may be changed using native Microsoft Word. For example, displaying a dollar sign in front of a number or showing the date formatted specifically to your use case. Use the article below to format your fields accordingly.

  1. Go to the following Microsoft Word article.
  2. Choose ‘Display the Field Results’ section and scroll down to the ‘Apply text formatting to a field’
    1. To change the formatting, see Format switch (\*)
    2. For number and/or currency formatting, see Numeric format switch (\#)

Images into Microsoft Word Documents

If you’d like to merge in images to your Word documents from a Rich Text or Formula field, use the options below.

Rich Text Fields

If you’d like to merge in images stored in a Rich Text field into your Word document, use the following options. (substitute “Account” for the target object of the template and “Your_Rich_Text_Field__c” with the formula field that has the image data)

all images 100 pt wide, 200 pt tall; will display full contents of field

all images 100 pt wide, aspect ratio enforced on height; will display full contents of field

FORMULA FIELDS

If you’d like to merge in images stored in a Formula field into your Word document, use the following options. (substitute “Account” for the target object of the template and “Your_Image_Formula_Field__c” with the formula field that has the image url)

Images into Microsoft Excel Documents

If you’d like to merge in images to your Excel documents from a Rich Text or Formula field, use the option below (Rich Text fields will only include the first image in the field). (substitute “Account” for the target object of the template and “Your_Image_Field__c” with the field that has the image data)

Images into Microsoft Powerpoint Documents

If you’d like to merge in images to your Powerpoint documents from a Rich Text or Formula field, use the option below (Rich Text fields will only include the first image in the field). (substitute “Account” for the target object of the template and “Your_Image_Field__c” with the field that has the image data)

  1. Go to the selected slide and click Insert → Picture
  2. Select a placeholder image
  3. Resize the image to the dimensions desired
  4. Right click on the image and click Size & Position
  5. Click on the AltText tab and enter the formula into the Description field
    1. Formula format: {{Account.Your_Image_Field__c}}

Hyperlinks in Microsoft Documents

Substitute “Account” for the target object of the template, “Url_Field__c” with the field that has the url, and “hyperlink text label” with the text of the link label.

  • Word

  • Powerpoint

Editable Fields in DocuSign for Microsoft Word Documents and PDF Documents

Microsoft Word and PDF document templates support tagging that indicates if a field should be editable on the DocuSign E-Sign document. Parameters can be added to the field in order to change the default behavior of the editable text box. (Substitute “Account” for the target object of the template and “Name” with the field on the object)

  • Word
    • {{EDITIFBLANK:Account.Name}}
      • Adds a DocuSign text field to the location of the field if it has no value assigned in Salesforce
    • {{EDITALWAYS:Account.Name}}
      • Adds a DocuSign text field to the location of the field with the value of the field set as the field value (if one exists)
  • PDF
    • EDITIFBLANK:Account.Name
      • Adds a DocuSign text field to the location of the field if it has no value assigned in Salesforce
    • EDITALWAYS:Account.Name
      • Adds a DocuSign text field to the location of the field with the value of the field set as the field value (if one exists)
  • Parameters
    • concealValueOnDocument
      • Sets the field to display asterisks when the field is not selected
      • PDF Example: EDITALWAYS(concealValueOnDocument):Account.Name
    • disableAutoSize
      • Disables the expansion of the field to accommodate the size spec
      • Word Example: {{EDITALWAYS(disableAutoSize):Account.Name}}
    • width
      • Sets the width of the field on the document
      • PDF Example: EDITALWAYS(width=300):Account.Name
    • maxLength
      • Sets the max length of text in the field
      • Word Example: {{EDITALWAYS(maxLength=50):Account.Name}}
    • required
      • Sets the field to be required on the document so that final signing can occur only after the fields are filled in
      • PDF Example: EDITALWAYS(required):Account.Name
    • underline
      • Sets the selected field to underline the text
      • Word Example: {{EDITALWAYS(underline):Account.Name}}
