Editing a Visual Analysis

You can edit any of the visual analysis you create and copy.  You can also edit any of the visual analysis shared by another user, as well as the CANNED analyzes provided by Conga Contracts. However, once a CANNED or shared visual analysis is edited, it must be saved under a different name.

1.  Click Reports in the Navigation Toolbar, and select the BI Toolbox link in the menu.

2.  In the Home screen, locate the visual analysis you want to edit, and click its link.

3. In the Discovery screen, you can make several edits to a visual analysis:

  • Change the data fields used in the analysis:
    • Click Icon VA3.gif to display the data fields if they are not visible.
    • Select and/or clear check boxes to update the fields.
    • Click Icon BIOK.png .
  • Change a chart to a table:
    • Click Icon BIChart.png to display the visualization categories.
    • Expand the Tables category, and click Table to redisplay data in a table format.
  • Change the type of chart:
    • Click Icon BIChart.png to display the visualization categories.
    • Expand a category, and click on a chart type to redisplay data in the new chart.
  • Update the fields used in the chart:
    • Click Icon BITrash.gif to remove the chart or table.
    • Locate two new fields in the bottom section of the screen.
      • To use only one field, click on the field's header, and then drag-and-drop it into the dotted area.
    • Connect the two fields, taking into account the first field you click on will have its information displayed along the Y-axis (vertical) and the connected field will have its information displayed along the X-axis (horizontal).
      • Click on the header of the first field, and holding down your mouse, drag the cursor to the header of the second field, and release.  A blue arc displays between the fields, indicating they are connected.
      • When the chart displays, review the recommended chart to display your data.
  • Add a data field to the X-Axis or Y-Axis of a chart:
    • Click on the header for a field located below the chart, and then drag your cursor into the gray area along the left border of the chart (Y-Axis), or the gray area under the chart (X-axis), and release.
    • Use the Drill option to display information for the added field.
  • Display data as a Crosstab or Timeline chart/table:
    • Click Icon BI CrossTab.gif.
    • Click on the header for a field located below the chart or table, and then drag your cursor into the gray area under the CROSSTAB or TIMELINE text, and release.
    • Use the Drill option to display information for the added field.
  • Update the title of the visual analysis:
    • Click Icon BIEdit3.png, located to the right of the title to enable the field.
    • Type over the existing text, and click Icon BICheck.png.
  • Add a filter to a field by clicking its Icon BIProperties.gif icon and selecting + New Filter, or edit all filter(s) by clicking Icon Filters.png.
  • Add or edit a calculation for a field by clicking its Icon BIProperties.gif icon and selecting + New Calculation.
  • Group or regroup the data in the analysis.
  • Format the analysis, including changing the type of chart used and/or the fields that display.
  • Format a date or value field in the analysis.
  • Add the analysis to the Visual Gallery:

    • Click Add to Gallery.
    • In the Add Panel prompt:
      • Edit the name of the visual analysis, if needed, in the Panel Title field.
      • Provide a description in the Panel Description field.
      • Click Add Panel.
  • Remove the analysis from the Visual Gallery:
    • Click the Author Dashboard Icon AuthorDash.gif icon, located in the upper left of any screen.

    • When the Visual Gallery displays in the Untitled Dashboard screen, locate the visual analysis you want to delete using the Find field, Sort By list, or by scrolling through the Gallery.

    • Click Icon BIDeleteList.png for a visualization to remove it from the Gallery.

    • Click OK in the confirmation prompt.

4.  Click Save.

  If you are saving a CANNED or shared visual analysis after making edits, a prompt displays.  Edit the name for the visual analysis in the Name field, and click Save as New.
