Create a Template with Template Builder

You can use the Conga® Template Builder to quickly build a template for a solution.

To build a template using the Conga Template Builder:

  1. In the Conga Composer® window, click Tools & Settings > Template Builder to launch Template Builder.

Conga Composer loads the datasets from the master object, including any you created with an alias by using reports and queries.

  2. In the Copy Field Format area, select the document type for the template.

  3. In the Options area, select or clear the Use Text-Based Merge Fields box to format the fields using the text-based format—such as {{Product_Name}}—or the traditional merge field format—such as «Product_Name».

  4. In the Options area, select or clear the Include Label box to include or ignore field label as merge fields are copied into the template region.

  5. In the left pane of the Template Builder, locate and double-click a field to add it to the right pane.

In the left pane of the Template Builder, click a field name and click the right arrow to add it to the right pane.

You can also select a field, copy it, and paste it directly into your document template.

Only merge fields from master data can be used in the email subject line. Merge fields from report data or detail data do not work in the email subject line of a Conga email template.

  1. Repeat the previous step to add additional fields.

  2. Click Create and Download a New Template button to have Conga create a new template document containing all of the fields in the right pane.

Click individual fields or regions and copy and paste (or drag) them to an open document.

Click Select all Regions button to select all fields and then copy or paste the fields into an open document.

  3. Save the template document.
