Set up a Global Merge Record in Salesforce Professional Edition

In Professional Edition, the process for setting up a Global Merge record is slightly different than the basic method described earlier, and requires a few additional steps.

To set up a Global Merge Record in Salesforce® Professional Edition:

  1. Click the Conga® Solutions tab.

  2. Click Create New... and select Conga Solution.

  3. In the Conga Solution Name field, enter a name for the solution.

  4. In the Master Object field, select Conga Global Merge (APTXConga4_Composer_QuickMerge_c).

  5. Click Create Record.

The new solution opens in the Conga Solution screen.

  6. Add solution components, such as reports, queries, templates, and parameters to your Solution Manager record.

  7. Click Create Conga Global Merge to create the Conga Global Merge object.

When Solution Manager creates the Global Merge record, it also creates a record ID and associates the button with the Global Merge record. Global Merge solutions appear on the Conga Global Merges tab.

  8. Copy the URL that has been created.

  9. Navigate to the Global Merge object:

Setup > Create > Objects > Buttons, Links and Actions > New Button or Link

  10. Create a new button using the URL that you copied from the Solution Manager.

  11. Save and then copy the Global Merge solution ID from the URL into the clipboard.

  12. Navigate to the Conga Global Merge Records tab under All Tabs.

Your Global Merge record will display. However, in Professional Edition you cannot launch a button without completing a few additional steps.

  13. Click the Global Merge record to access the details.

  14. Click Edit Layout.

Notice the Button ID and Button Name fields are duplicates of those already on the page.

  15. Add each button to the Weblink Details area, even though they are already there.

The buttons already in that section are not editable so you are unable to paste the Record ID.

Best Practice is to remove the un-editable button name and button id fields from the page layout to keep the page clean.

  16. Once you have added the editable buttons, click Save.
  17. Double-click the Button Name field and enter the button name.

  18. Double-click the Button ID field and paste the Button ID copied earlier.

The URL fields that already existed will now update with the information added in the editable fields.

  19. Click Launch to launch the button.
